Privacy
Last updated: 11 August 2026
Ride Weather is a single static web page. There are no accounts and there is no backend server that we run to receive your data. We use Google Analytics to understand anonymous, aggregate usage of the site (see below).
Your route stays on your device
When you choose a .gpx file, it is read and parsed
entirely in your browser. The file itself is
never uploaded to any server we control.
What is sent to third parties
To draw the map and fetch a forecast, your browser contacts:
- Open-Meteo — receives the sampled coordinates and the dates/times needed to return a forecast for points along your route. See the Open-Meteo terms.
- OpenStreetMap / Esri map tile servers — receive standard map-view requests (the map area you are looking at) to serve the basemap tiles. See the OSM privacy policy and Esri privacy.
- unpkg — serves the pinned Leaflet map code and stylesheet; requests include standard web metadata such as your IP address and browser details. See unpkg.
- Google Fonts — serves the page fonts; requests include your browser's IP address as with any web request.
- Google Analytics — collects anonymous, aggregate usage statistics (such as page views and general device/location information) to help us understand how the site is used. This uses cookies and receives your browser's IP address. See the Google privacy policy.
These requests are made directly from your browser to those services, the same way any website loads a map or a font.
Local storage
Your browser's localStorage is used only to remember your
units preference (metric or imperial) and your
theme preference (dark or light). These preferences
stay on your device and are not sent to us.
No personal data
Aside from the anonymous, aggregate statistics collected by Google Analytics, we do not collect, store, or share any personal data. Attribution and weather data are provided by OpenStreetMap contributors, Esri, and Open-Meteo.
